Ivan Voitsekhovich Grzhimali (Hřímalý) was a Czech violinist and teacher. In 1861 he completed studies with honors from the Prague Conservatory, where he was a violin student of Professor Moritz Mildner. In 1869 he became a graduate student of Ferdinand Laub at the Moscow Conservatory, and in 1874 he was appointed as a professor of the Conservatory. He became the head of the String Quartet of the Moscow Branch of the Russian Musical Society, which gave the premiere performance of Tchaikovsky’s Third String Quartet, dedicated to the memory of Ferdinand Laub. He performed in ensemble with Nikolay Rubinstein, Wilhelm Fitzenhagen, Sergey Taneyev and Anatoly Andreyevich Brandukov. He played on a Stradivarius violin which belonged to Ferdinand Laub.
He had many students, among whom were Stanisław Barcewicz, Joseg Kotek (both had begun their violin studies with Ferdinand Laub), Elizaveta Fabianovna Gnesina (Vitachek), Georgy Nikolayevich Dulov, Yuly Eduardovich Konyus, M. Plaksin, M.I. Press, Nikolay Andreyevich Roslavets and Mikhail Gavrilovich Erdenko.
