The Seventh International Competition of the Moscow Conservatory for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments

Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory announces The Seventh International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments to be held during 6–14 November 2015. The majors are “Oboe” and “French horn”.
The Competition is to be held once a year on two majors out of ten: nine majors of wind instruments and one major of percussion ones. Therefore, each major is to be represented at the Competition once per every five years:
2015: oboe, French horn
2016: clarinet, trumpet
2017: flute, tuba
2018: percussion, woodwind quintet
2019: bassoon, tenor trombone

Aims of the Competition:
To raise prestige of the winds and percussion instruments
To encourage young people to play wind and percussion instruments
To search for the most talented young musicians, to support and stimulate their professional skills
To provide the conditions for artistic cultural exchange, to enhance the artistic development and to improve the professional skills of the participants of the Competition
To develop national musical education
To make playing wind instruments more attractive for the wide audience
Applications
The Competition is open to participants of all nationalities born not earlier than 7 November 1982 and not later than 6 November 1999.
Winners of any other national or international competitions must participate in the First Round.
The application forms must be filled out, signed and submitted not later than 1 October 2015.
The following documents must be signed, scanned and attached to the application form:
front page of the passport with the photo and the signature (Russian citizens must also submit the scanned page with their permanent residence registration stamp);
music education certificate;
brief biography that should include: date and place of birth, place of study, year of study at the time of the Competition (if the competitor is a student), teachers’ names, previous competitions (indicating the year, country, city and award), as well as any other important information;
one digital artistic photo with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (the .jpg, .tiff, .bmp and .png formats are permitted);
Taxpayer’s ID Number and the Pension Insurance Certificate (for Russian citizens only);
receipt on the payment of the registration fee;
the competitor’s signed consent for processing his/her personal information (in a free form).
All the scanned documents and photos must be forwarded at: art-department@mail.ru.
No changes in the program indicated in the application are allowed after 1 October 2015.
The Organizing Committee shall have the right to reject any improper or incomplete applications.
The amount of the registration fee is:
for Russian citizens: 3000 (three thousand) rubles;
for foreign citizens: an equivalent of 3000 (three thousand) rubles either in euros or in US dollars according to the exchange rate to be established by the Central Bank of Russia on the day of payment.
The registration fee is non-refundable.

The Procedure for Holding the Competition
All the auditions are held publicly. The First and Second Rounds are held at the Rachmaninoff Hall, the Third Round is held at the Great Hall.
The order of performances will be defined by the Draw to be held prior to the First Round of every major and will remain unchanged until the end of the competition. The competitors must be present at the Draw and the Information Meeting to be held on 6 November 2015.
The competitor may choose the order of performing the pieces of his/her program during every Round.
An acoustic rehearsal in the concert hall will be provided for all competitors in every round.
In case of necessity, and if indicated in the application form, the Organizing Committee may provide accompanists, whose services will be paid by the Moscow Conservatory.
Upon consent of all members of the Jury, the performance of any competitor may be either shortened or stopped.
A maximum of a half of the participants of the First Round will be admitted for the Second Round of every major.
A maximum of five participants of the Second Round will be admitted for the Third Round of every major.
Upon completion of the Second Round, the Jury will choose the best accompanist of the Competition in every major.
The participants of the Third Round will be provided with one rehearsal with an orchestra.
The results will be announced immediately after each round.
Prizes and Awards
The Organizing Committee of the Competition shall announce the following prizes for both majors:
First Prize: 200,000 rubles and the title of a laureate
Second Prize: 100,000 rubles and the title of a laureate
Third Prize: 75,000 rubles and the title of a laureate
Special award: a J. Püchner oboe d’amore.
The First Prize winner will be granted a F. Lorée — de Gourdon oboe.
The oboists participating in the Competition will be granted K. Ge Reeds and Reeds ’n Stuff profiling machines as their special awards.
All monetary prizes will be paid in Russian rubles with the taxes to be withheld in accordance with the Russian legislation. The Organizing Committee shall have the right to amend the financial conditions of the Competition.
Additional prizes may be awarded upon consent of the Organizing Committee by any governmental, non-governmental or commercial organizations, foundations, artistic unions, mass media and private individuals.
The Jury shall have the right:
- to award not all of the prizes;
- to divide an amount of the Second and/or Third Prize between several participants of the Third Round.
The decisions of the Jury are final and irrevocable.
The best accompanists in each major will receive a diploma and a prize of 50,000 rubles.
Special Conditions
The participants of the Competition may not receive any fee either for their performance at the Competition or for any later use of the recordings and broadcasts of these performances.
Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory shall have the exclusive rights for the distribution of audio and video records and broadcasts of the auditions and the final concert of the Competition laureates.
The Competition laureates must perform at the final concert of the Competition with no remuneration.
All competitors will be provided with practice rooms at the Moscow Conservatory in the determined order free of charge.
The Organizing Committee will support the competitors to obtain the scores of the compositions announced on the Competition program.
The signed and submitted application form shall mean an unconditional acceptance of the competitor with all the above-named terms and conditions.
Should any arguments arise with regard to the interpretation of these terms and conditions of the Competition, the Russian version of this text shall have a priority.

2. Pierre Sancan. Sonatina for oboe and piano
Second Round: all pieces, except the one composed specifically for the Competition, shall be performed by heart

The Third Round of the Competition between the French horn players will consist of two parts. During the first part, all the finalists will perform Haydn's Concerto, and during the second one all of them will perform Glière's Concerto.
