Annex of the Year 2020 to the Regulations on the International Composers’ Competition for the Best Obligatory Piece to Be Performed at Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments

A.1. General Provisions

A.1.1. The full official name of the competition is The Twelfth International Composers’ Competition for the Best Obligatory Piece to Be Performed at Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments (hereinafter to be referred to as “the 12th Composers’ Competition for the 12th Wind/Percussion Competition”).

A.1.2. The dates of holding the 12th Composers’ Competition for the 12th Wind/Percussion Competition is from 31 August till 4 September 2020 inclusive.

A.2. Prizes of the 12th Composers’ Competition for the 12th Wind/Percussion Competition

The Organizing Committee shall announce the following two monetary prizes for the best pieces:
A.2.1. for solo oboe: 25,000 (twenty-five thousand) rubles;
A.2.2. for solo French horn: 25,000 (twenty-five thousand) rubles.

A.5. Submission of the Application and the Score

A.5.1. In order to participate in the 12th Composers’ Competition for the 12th Wind/Percussion Competition, every applicant must:
A.5.1.1. fill out an online application;
A.5.1.2. forward to the Organizing Committee’s official e-mail address the score of a piece submitted for the Competition signed by the applicant’s password only, with no name, as a *.pdf file.

A.5.2. The deadline for submission of both the application and the score in order to participate in the 12th Composers’ Competition for the 12th Wind/Percussion Competition is 30 August 2020.

Regulations on the International Composers’ Competition for the Best Obligatory Piece to Be Performed at Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments

1. General Provisions

1.1. The full official name of the competition is The International Composers’ Competition for the Best Obligatory Piece to Be Performed at Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments (hereinafter to be referred to as “the Competition”).

1.2. The Competition was founded in 2009 by Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (hereinafter to be referred to as “the Conservatory”).

1.3. The Competition is held annually at the beginning of autumn. The dates of the respective year’s Competition are specified and published on the Conservatory’s official website in advance: see the webpage of the respective year’s Competition with a specific number.

1.4. Pieces composed by the laureates of the respective year’s Competition are announced obligatory for their performance at Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments to be held later in the same year (with the same counting number) in the respective nominations: see the webpage of the respective year’s Competition with a specific number.

2. Prizes

2.1. The Organizing Committee announces two monetary prizes for the Competition laureates, one for each piece to be considered the best in its nomination. The amount of each prize is specified on an annual basis and published on the Conservatory’s official website in advance: see the webpage of the respective year’s Competition with a specific number.

2.2. Upon the Organizing Committee’s consent, public organizations, foundations, mass media and/or individuals may establish any additional prizes, awards and/or gifts for the competitors. Decisions to award any special prizes, awards and/or gifts to the competitors are made by the Competition Jury.

2.3. All the prizes will be paid to the Competition laureates in rubles, with taxes to be deducted under Russia’s legislation.

3. The Jury

3.1. The Organizing Committee appoints the Competition Jury on an annual basis. The list of Jury members of the respective year’s Competition is specified and published on the Conservatory’s official website in advance: see the webpage of the respective year’s Competition with a specific number.

3.2. None of the Jury members, including the chairperson, may not undertake any direct or indirect actions aiming to disclose an authorship of the applicants’ pieces (see clauses 5.1.2 and 5.5).

3.3. All decisions of the Jury are final and irrevocable.

3.4. In the event a competitor has been or was a pupil of any Jury member, including the chairperson, during the three years immediately preceding the respective year’s Competition, the respective Jury member must notify the Organizing Committee thereon in writing prior to the beginning of that Competition.

4. Procedure for Holding the Competition

4.1. Any composers, with no limitations whatsoever, may participate in the Competition.

4.2. Every composer may submit for the Competition a maximum of one piece for solo flute, solo oboe, solo clarinet, solo bassoon, solo French horn, solo trumpet, solo tenor trombone, solo tuba, woodwind quintet or percussion instruments — depending on the nominations announced at Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments of the respective year.

4.3. No pieces earlier published or performed publicly or awarded with any prize at any other competitions may participate in the Competition.

4.4. The duration of any piece to be submitted for the Competition must be no shorter than five and no longer than seven minutes.

4.5. The laureate of the respective year’s Competition may not refuse that his/her composition be performed as an obligatory piece at Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments to be held later in the same year (with the same counting number).

5. Submission of the Application and the Score

5.1. In order to participate in the Competition, the applicant must:
5.1.1. fill out his/her online application — see the link on the webpage of the respective year’s Competition with a specific number;
5.1.2. forward to the Organizing Committee’s official e-mail address the score of a piece submitted for the Competition signed by the applicant’s password only, with no name, as a *.pdf file.

5.2. The deadline for submitting the application and the score is specified on an annual basis and published on the Conservatory’s official website in advance: see the webpage of the respective year’s Competition with a specific number.

5.3. The fact of forwarding the application to the Organizing Committee (see clause 5.1.1) means the applicant’s unconditional consent with all the terms of these Regulations and their Annex.

5.4. The Organizing Committee may reject any application that does not meet any of the above-mentioned requirements.

5.5. No music material containing any personal information about the applicant may be allowed to participate in the Competition.

6. Special Provisions

6.1. The Conservatory shall be the only owner of an exclusive copyright for audio- and/or video-recording, as well as for any radio, TV and/or online broadcasts, of the public performances of the Competition laureates’ pieces during Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments.

6.2. Laureates of the Competition shall receive no copyright for the usage by the Conservatory of audio- and/or video-recording, as well as of any radio, TV and/or online broadcasts, of any public performances of their pieces during Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments (see clause 1.4).

6.3. These Regulations are published on the webpage of the International Composers’ Competition for the Best Obligatory Piece to Be Performed at Round Two of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments, located on the Conservatory’s official website, both in Russian and English. All the clauses that concern the holding of each Competition in the respective year are published on the webpage of the respective year’s Competition with a specific number, both in Russian and English.

6.4. Should any dispute or disagreement arise in the interpretation of any of the terms of these Regulations and/or its Annex, the versions published in Russian shall prevail.
