Annex of the Year 2022 to the Regulations on Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments
A.1. General Provisions
A.1.1. The full official name of the competition is The Thirteenth Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory’s International Competition for Performers on Wind and Percussion Instruments (hereinafter to be referred to as “the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition”).
A.1.3. The dates of holding the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition are from 27 October to 1 November 2022 inclusive.
A.1.4. The 13th Wind/Percussion Competition will be held for the following two nominations:
- (1) Clarinet;
- (2) Trumpet.
A.1.5. The Program of the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition is as follows:
A.1.5.1. The Nomination Clarinet
All the pieces must be performed by heart at Rounds One and Three.
It is permitted that the pieces at Round Two be performed from music.
Round One — two pieces:
- (1) Gaetano Donizetti (1797–1848). Etude No. 1 in C major for solo clarinet (without repeats)
- (2) Konstantin Mostras (1886–1965). Etude on Rimsky-Korsakov’s Theme for violin and piano. Version for clarinet and piano
Round Two — three pieces:
- (1) The piece for solo clarinet winning at the Composers’ Competition as part of the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition:
Valentin Bezdetko. “Phenomenon” (download PDF) - (2) One of the following pieces, optionally:
- (a) Charles-Marie Widor (1844–1937). Introduction and Rondo for clarinet and piano, op. 72
- (b) Ernest Chausson (1855–1899). Andante and Allegro for clarinet and piano
- (c) Carl Reinecke (1824–1910). Introduction and Allegro appassionato for clarinet and piano, op. 256
- (d) Norbert Burgmüller (1810–1836). Concert Duo in E-flat major for clarinet and piano, op. 15

- (b) Carl Maria von Weber (1786–1826). Concerto No. 1 in F minor for clarinet and orchestra
- (2) One of the following pieces, optionally:
- (a) Alexandre Chabod (b. 1976). Fantasia on Themes from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker for clarinet and piano (2013). Arrangement for clarinet and chamber orchestra by Kuzma Bodrov (Klavierauszug, download PDF) (Clarinet Part, download PDF)
- (b) Gioacchino Rossini (1792–1868). Introduction, Theme and Variations in B-flat major for clarinet and orchestra
A.1.5.2. The Nomination Trumpet
All the pieces must be performed by heart at Rounds One and Three.
It is permitted that the pieces at Round Two be performed from music.
Round One — two pieces:
(1) Joseph Haydn (1732–1809). Concerto in E-flat major for trumpet and orchestra, Hob. VIIe:1: 1st movement with Cadenza. Arrangement for trumpet and piano. The performer may choose both the type of the instrument and the version of the cadenza.
(2) Vladimir Peskin (1906–1988). Concert Allegro for trumpet and piano
Round Two — three pieces:
- (1) The piece for solo trumpet winning at the Composers’ Competition as part of the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition:

- (3) One of the following pieces, optionally:
- (a) Johann Melchior Molter (1696–1765). Concerto No. 2 in D major for trumpet, string orchestra and basso continuo, MWV 6.33
- (b) Johannes Matthias Sperger (1750–1812). Concerto No. 2 in D major for corno da caccia and orchestra. Arrangement for trumpet and piano
- (c) Georg Philipp Telemann (1681–1767). Concerto in D major for trumpet, two violins and basso continuo, TWV 51:D7
Round Three — two pieces:
- (1) Joseph Haydn (1732–1809). Concerto in E-flat major for trumpet and orchestra, Hob. VIIe:1. The performer may choose both the type of the instrument and the version of the cadenza.
- (2) André Jolivet (1905–1974). Concertino for trumpet, piano and strings (1948)

A.2. Prizes of the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition
The Organizing Committee shall announce the following six monetary prizes for the laureates:
(1) in the Nomination Clarinet:
A.2.1. First prize: 200,000 (two hundred thousand) rubles;
A.2.2. Second prize: 100,000 (one hundred thousand) rubles;
A.2.3. Third prize: 75,000 (seventy-five thousand) rubles;
(2) in the Nomination Trumpet:
A.2.4. First prize: 200,000 (two hundred thousand) rubles;
A.2.5. Second prize: 100,000 (one hundred thousand) rubles;
A.2.6. Third prize: 75,000 (seventy-five thousand) rubles.

A.4. Procedure for Holding the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition
A.4.4.1.1. The Initial Meeting of the competitors in the nomination Trumpet will be held on Wednesday, 26 October 2022, at 12:30 at the Organizing Committee’s Office (the Great Hall Building, Room 210).
A.4.4.1.2. The Initial Meeting of the competitors in the nomination Clarinet will be held on Friday, 28 October 2022, at 10:00 at the Rachmaninoff Hall (Building Three).
A.4.8. The Final Concert of the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition will be held on Tuesday, 1 November 2022, at 19:00 at the Great Hall.
A.5. Submission of the Application and the Documents
A.5.1. In order to participate in the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition, every applicant must:
- A.5.1.1. fill out an online application;
- A.5.1.2. fill out, sign, scan and forward his/her consent for the processing of his/her personal data to the Organizing Committee’s official e-mail address;
- A.5.1.3. See the list of other documents in the text of the Regulations here: press the folder About.
A.5.4. The deadline for submitting the online application and the documents in order to participate in the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition is 20 September 2022.
A.6. Financial Terms
A.6.2. The registration fee for participation in the 13th Wind/Percussion Competition is 3000 (three thousand) Russian rubles and is to be paid after the Initial Meeting upon the Organizing Committee’s instruction.
